Guidelines:
Listen closely to the words of the speaker and evaluate their use of language. Is the speaker a good writer? Do they use simple but effective language? Do they make their key points clearly and understandably?
Also, evaluate the speakers delivery. Do they use a certain tone when speaking? Do they speak clearly? Is there a rhythm to the delivery? Make note of posture, eye contact and hand gestures.
Consider the reaction of the audience. Does it respond well to the speaker? Does the speaker take into account the needs of his listeners?
If possible, make note of the place where the speech is delivered. Also, its purpose, the size of the crowd, the sponsoring agency, etc.
