Please select ONE of the topics from the list. (Should You Always Tell The Truth?) Your task is to write a Pretty Short Paper in which you discuss the question that is also the title of your paper. We encourage you to base your discussion on ONE of the three ethical theories discussed in class (utilitarianism, Kantianism, virtue ethics).
Because your paper will be short, every word is important. Please attend to the following formatting requirements: Your first “paragraph” should be a single sentence, your thesis statement, which makes the claim for which your analysis will argue. Then one paragraph should summarize the position/argument you are discussing/criticizing in no more than 150-200 words. The following paragraph should explain why we should accept your analysis/view (c. 300 words). A final paragraph should briefly discuss and respond to what you consider to be the best objection to your argument (c. 200 words). (Please omit a “conclusion” paragraph, and focus the word count on summary, analysis, and counterargument/rebuttal.) Write several drafts. Start with about 900 words and then shorten the final version to c. 700 words.
