Just as you know that you cannot provide your service users with all the answers they need, you may not feel that you are the complete HSPP that you want to be, ready to take on all the responsibilities and challenges you must face in the field of human services. You are not alone. Most HSPPs feel this way when they are beginning their careers. Like most things, confidence often comes with application and experience. Taking time to define who you are and where you are at the beginning of your professional journey can help you map out where you are going as you embark on your professional career.
In this Discussion, you provide your definition of an HSPP, explain why you want to become an HSPP, describe how you want to make a difference in society, assess how you plan to fill any gaps you may have, and identify who you may reach out to for support as you embark on your career.
