Describe the cognitive bias you intend to discuss. You can call upon research from fields such as philosophy, psychology, or elsewhere to substantiate your analysis. Pay particular attention to the way this bias creeps into a subjects thinking, explaining the circumstances that typically surround this bias.

In at least three full pages you will write about the anchoring fallacy. Your paper should consist of well-delineated section headings that correspond to the outline described below. Please use a separate bibliography to cite any sources used. Please also format your paper in times new roman, with one inch margins (double spaced), and 12 point font. USE THE DEFINITION BELOW.

-DEFINITION OF ANCHORING BIAS- Anchoring bias is a cognitive bias that causes us to rely too heavily on the first piece of information we are given about a PERSON.

Section I: Describe the cognitive bias you intend to discuss. You can call upon research from fields such as philosophy, psychology, or elsewhere to substantiate your analysis. Pay particular attention to the way this bias creeps into a subjects thinking, explaining the circumstances that typically surround this bias.

Section II: Zero in on the dangers of this bias. Why type of blind spots does it create in a persons judgment? Be specific by, for example, breaking down a hypothetical judgment into a standard from argument. Show the mistake in logic made by illustrating the move from a pretend premise-set to a pretend conclusion as a typical example.

Section III: Focus on the famous example researched previously. Use an example that has particular significance socially, historically, politically, or culturally. Put this error into its proper context by explaining what was at stake, who was involved, why the error was so significant and its effect. Note that this must be a real instance of your cognitive bias. Be able to name specific persons who commit it rather than vaguely assuming that people where guilty of it.

Section IV: Discuss the nature of the logical error your bias involves. In other words, why does this bias constitute an instance of poor rationality? Make reference to notions such as validity, soundness, strength, and cogency. Finally consider strategies in logic for correcting/preventing this error. (Assume throughout the paper that your reader knowns nothing about logic, cognitive bias, or any related terms.)
