You are the leader of a new product or service committee for your company. You have been asked to lead the company in the identification of potential new product or service ideas that eventually will be screened, optimized, and prepared for introduction in the marketplace. The introduction will be based on the development of a target audience profile, marketing communications plan, media selection, pricing, distribution, and a performance monitoring program.

For this first task, you are to provide a company memo that includes the following elements:

A description of the product or service that the company operates in—this can be the same category identified in the DB task or a new one.
At least 3 potential new product or service concepts for the category that are felt to have promise for the company. Each of the new product or service concepts should be specific in what it functionally offers category users that is new or unique in the category.
Provide support or evidence for each of the 3 new product or service concepts for why it is felt each is promising for generating incremental business for the company.
What are potential pitfalls or barriers for each of the 3 concepts for consumers’ perceiving a product or service that is of interest to them?
How would you recommend proceeding to screening the new concepts with consumers?
