Discuss about the detrimental effects of self-imposed isolationism, alienation, and its consequences on humans.

For the final researched essay, you will develop a critical comparison of the themes (CHOOSE ONLY ONE THEME TO COMPARE/CONTRAST) of two of the pieces of literature you have read:

My Comparative Literature Essay is on: The Metamorphosis and The House of Mirth and my theme is : the detrimental effects of self-imposed isolationism, alienation, and its consequences on humans.

In preparation for writing your final researched comparative literature essay, you will prepare an annotated bibliography that includes citations and source summaries for every secondary source you plan to use in your final draft. Sources can include books, journals, and/or academic online resources). The bibliography should have a minimum of five (5) MLA-formatted citations (for each of your secondary sources), each with a corresponding summary just below the entry. Put the entries in alphabetical order as well.

Note: You must use a minimum of 5 secondary sources, which can be a mix of literary articles (specifically about the literature you are addressing) and more general articles (e.g., a general article about gender roles in the early 20th century). You should integrate the quoted passages into your bibliography (and your essay, later) using signal phrases.

Criteria for Success:

1. Accurately format each entry following the MLA-style guidelines from Rules for Writers.

2. Provide developed (6-10 sentences) summaries for the citations.

3. Include quoted passages with the corresponding page numbers in the summaries if you plan to use them in your researched essay.

4. Follow academic writing conventions for punctuation, spelling, writing style, grammar, etc.
