D#8 African Nation – – Really Decolonized?

We have read about African colonization: Borders created by the Europeans, Education changed to the European Model (including Liberia), Religion affected by Christian Missionaries (change from African Traditional Religions and competition with Islam), Government changed to a Nation State based on the European Model, and an Economy that fed the European Industrial Complex. Most African colonies turned into Nation States from 1957 through 1964 and then later 1994. Decolonization is defined as the act of getting rid of colonization, or freeing a country from being dependent on another country. Power Point African Independence

Are the Independent African Nation States Completely decolonized? (Discuss how European borders, education, economy, religion, and government are still a part of Independent African Nations)? Ask the following questions:

1. Did they change their borders,
2. Did they remove the European language as the official government language,
3. Did they No Longer use the European/American School Format
4. Relationship between Christianity and Other Religions in the state–peaceful co-existence OR Civil Conflict
5. Did they change the governmental format away from the European format.
6. Did they industrialize and are no longer dependent upon the European industrial complex to buy their agricultural and mineral raw materials

IF the answer is No to any one of these items THEN the African Nation is NOT Decolonized.
