The main research question is this– What are the dominant narratives of Soviet-led heritage construction and were there counter-narratives that challenged these discourses in Central Asia?
Try to trace the Soviet preservation policies from the early Soviet to the post-Soviet era. What continuities emerge? What are the major changes? Was there a particular approach or “school” to Soviet preservation? And did it last after the end of the Soviet era?
