Describe what is or can be a patient safety concern in your workplace. (Refer to Exhibit 9-5 in your textbook as you identify the type of concern in your description.) The Type of concern that I choose from Exhibit 9-5 is Adverse event.
Adverse event: An injury caused by medical management rather than by the underlying disease and condition of the patient. Describe circumstances that may contribute to the patient safety concern. (Such circumstances may include nurse staffing, as previously mentioned in discussions, but should extend beyond nurse staffing as an influencing factor: e.g., organizational circumstances, multi-disciplinary in nature, inter-departmental communication, etc.)
Describe what you think should occur in response to the patient safety concern as a nurse leader and organizationally as a system-focused improvement while integrating your readings and resources into the conversation.
