You’ve now read about Ghirlandaio’s Birth of the Virgin in your textbook and on the Lecture page. Respond to the questions posed in the lecture. It’s important that you actually take the time to look at earlier donor portraits from the textbook and lessons for comparison.

+ How does this compare to the donor portraits we’ve seen so far? What features have we come to expect from donor portraits that are or are not present here? Consider especially the representation of the donors and their relationship to the holy figures. What about body language?

You read about Perugino’s painting, Christ Delivering the Keys of the Kingdom to Saint Peter, in your book and in the lecture. For this DB, write your interpretation of the painting based on what you have read. Be specific about what you believe this painting communicates and why this message would have been important to the patron.
