In order to create a business plan, you need to identify what you want to do. That is at the core of a project proposal and definition. In this milestone you have two distinct, but linked tasks.

The first is to create your project proposal. This is, in essence, what you want to create, be it a new practice or a service. You are telling the reader this is what we need to do.

The second part of this milestone is the service (product) definition. I have called it a service definition because healthcare is a service we provide for our patients. Keeping this reminder top of mind will help you frame your entire business plan.

A good definition will keep scope creep out of your business plan. The text details several questions the definition answers, but the basic idea is definition answers most of the who, what, where, when, why, and how type questions from a high level. A good project proposal and definition will frame your entire business plan and drive your analyses.

Some additional information for you:

Your submission will be a Word document.
Make sure your definition is specific, i.e., if you are opening primary care, think of the types of patients
Geriatric practice?
Family practice?
Pediatrics?
Are you including any specialty providers off the bat, like orthopedics?
You should almost think of this as an executive summary of your project, just without your findings.
The reader should come away with a clear understanding of what you are going to pursue and why you are going to pursue it (new service or new practice).
It must be free of grammatical errors and spelling mistakes.
It should be written in complete paragraphs, not bullet points.

Our team is thinking of opening an Nurse practitioner group – Primary Care in the S.E. Washington D.C. We would like to open this practice where it can be accessible by metro. We want to cater to the underserved population primarily adults. We would like to plan and get this clinic running within 2 years. How: we would like to get grants, stakeholders, private funding to to get this clinic up and running. The services we would provide include: Educational services, Telehealth, hospital follow up care for disease management, outpatient setting, post hospitalization follow up, prevent poly pharmacy are some of the services we would prevent. Our aim and goal is to prevent hospital readmission. We plan on including Mental health providers in the long run to provide mental health. Please write a proposal to incorporate this. Thanks
