Discuss why victims should bring their problems to the attention of the legal system. While doing this consider and discuss what it is they want from the Criminal Justice System. What would be best for them? What does “justice” mean to them?
Next, discuss the three distinct goals that victims can pursue when seeking “justice” (punishment, rehabilitation and restitution). Give examples of a case where a victim would pursue each goal (for example, under what type of case would a victim want punishment/revenge? When might they want rehabilitation or restitution?).
