OVERVIEW:

This paper serves as your final assessment for the course. As such, you are expected to have achieved our course objectives: you can evaluate and discuss historical sources and utilize these sources in enriching understanding of historical events. This is also an opportunity for you to conduct your own research on a topic of particular interest to you within the period of the Second Phase of the Philippine Revolution to the 1986 People Power Revolution.

DETAILED INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Select a topic which interests you within the period of the Second Phase of the Philippine Revolution to the 1986 People Power Revolution.

2. Choose 6-8 historical sources you will use as reference. You must have at least 3 primary and 3 secondary sources.

3. Evaluate and discuss each individual source. Be guided by the questions used in your exercise on historiography.

4. In doing number 3, allow the sources to “dialogue” with each other. Discuss the similarities and differences in their points-of-view. What arguments exist between and among your sources? What possible explanations can you give for these divergences?

5. Discuss how discourse on the historical event can be enriched by the sources you used in your paper.

6. Be sure to properly cite your sources using the Chicago Manual of Style (Links to an external site.) format.

GUIDELINES:

The final output will be submitted as a Word/PDF document with a minimum word count of 3,000 words (excluding your references). Please use Calibri 11 with 1.5 line spacing and 1-inch margins on all sides.
