Hispanic food and dining practices

Each presentation should be no more than 10 minutes long. You will need to create a powerpoint or google doc presentation and narrate with your own voice recording in English, since we are currently an online class with no face to face or synchronized time.Paper: In addition to the ppt presentation, you will need to turn in a 4 page paper that develops your ideas cohesively with a clear thesis statement.12 pt. Times New Roman double space, one inch margins (standard MLA, APA)I will use the following criteria to determine your grade. A-Excellent overall, no clear weaknesses. Your ideas are well reasoned as a compare and
contrast argument. You must demonstrate being able to take charge of your own ideas, assumptions and inferences. You must identify competing points of view and carefully reason in order to apply implications and consequences of certain ideas.B-B level work is on the whole clear, precise and well reasoned. The standards are used frequently.C-C level work demonstrates more than a minimal level of work. It is highly inconsistent with as many weaknesses as strengths.D-D level work shows only a minimal level of work very little critical thinking skills. Assignment is poorly done and superficially reasoned. The student just goes through the motions.F- Failing level work has failed to demonstrate any kind of knowledge and has not accomplished the assigned goals.Creativity: Your presentations must include visual examples/technology, pictures, fotos, clips, primary sources or any other media document that may apply more depth to your reasoning and ideas. Bibliography: You must also include at least four academic bibliographic sources in proper APA or MLA form. This includes journals, magazines articles, books that are incorporated into to your written paper and document.

You are free to pick a topic that reflects a cultural component. The main objective is to specify and gain more insight into part of the Hispanic Culture by comparing and contrasting various aspects of Hispanic culture with North American culture. Our topics can be found throughout chapter 1-7 or at the end of each chapter. For example, university life, homes living styles, family, Day of the Dead, Food, clothing, weather etc. You can also choose to skim the chapters in case there are particular people, biographies, music, art, history etc. and compare Hispanic culture to your own cultural understanding/experience.
