These are the following instructions:

Many of us have never seen a large-scale intensively managed ecosystem, except perhaps for the large farms in the American Midwest. Find information on a specific type of production operation, and explain how it works. Then, write a 3-4 page MAX case study of this human-created ecosystem. You may summarize each of the following topics in ‘bullet points’ for this assignment instead of traditional essay format. Your choice. Consider including the following information:

location
type of operation
industry earnings
what is being produced
how much is produced
required inputs – type and quantity
waste generated – type and quantity
where the waste goes
transportation to market or other destination
which global environmental systems are affected and how they are affected You might choose eucalyptus plantations in Brazil, palm oil plantations in Indonesia, salmon farming in Norway or Chile, shrimp farming in Thailand or Ecuador or India, corn, soy or wheat production in the USA, Canada, China, Brazil, or another country, concentrated animal feeding operations, or whatever else you find. In my experience, most information of this type is either written by the producers, in which case all the information is positive, or by opposition activists, in which case it is very negative. If you initially find only biased information, you will need to do additional research to reconcile conflicting claims and to develop a credible analysis of the industry.

Write in a professional tone for an academic and scientific audience. Include illustrations as appropriate.
