General Instructions:
Write an essay of at least 2000 words (6 pages double spaced), in which you connect one of the texts with its culture, using sources from your own research. No essay will be considered complete unless it contains:
– A unique title, which anticipates its conclusions.
– A thesis
– Quotations from the primary source, with appropriate analysis.
– Quotations from, and citations of, secondary sources.
– A bibliography of at least FIVE sources; websites are fine, but they should be scholarly. ( Ill need to see at least 3 sources that arent general encyclopedia entires or the like.)
Specific Instructions: (Please refer to the literature element The Inferno by Dante Alighieri.
The Inferno: Choose one canto, and trace the history of one or more of its sinners. What literary techniques has Dante used to shape that sinners biography in order to make it appropriate for that part of hell? What conclusions might we be able to draw about Medieval Catholicism?
Remember: The keys to success are to have textual evidence to back up claims, and to have an argument that you think needs making. Dont assume that what you write is obvious.
