-An introduction that provides an entry point into your topic by explaining the stakes or setting the scene.
-An argumentative thesis that your essay goes on to support.
At least one paragraph of context / background information about your topic.
-At least one new source (from our in-class readings or elsewhere) that you didn’t use in your exploratory essay.
You don’t have to re-use the other sources from your exploratory essay, either!
-A thoughtfully presented counterargument, explaining limitations, alternate viewpoints, or caveats to your thesis. Quality is better than quantity here: instead of listing a bunch of reasons why people might disagree with you, pick one or two and give them a thorough explanation and response.
-A conclusion that restates the significance of your argument, provides a call to action, and/or gives the reader something new to think about.
-This draft should be 4-6 double-spaced pages (1000-1500 words).
-Please indicate your thesis statement by marking it in bold.
-Please indicate where you have made revisions by highlighting, underlining, changing text color, or using a Track Changes feature.
