How do you measure your own success in this course?

While our society pressures us to go to college, that urgency does not necessarily arise from a concern for our personal intellectual journeys. Societies want people to fit into the workforce and to contribute to the social and cultural fabric that already exists. Life, however, is in flux. The way things used to work is not how things work now, and we need people who are alive to ideas and new solutions to bring vitality and power to our societies. The idea of community is important, but there can be no dignified and functional community without informed, aware individuals. We are conditioned as students to be validated, to be hungry for high grades, but grades validate, at best, only part of our accomplishment. The other vital part of our accomplishment is what we get or start for ourselves in college.

How do you measure your own success in this course? What have you done that has helped you? What do you take from your time in this course that has significance? How are your values shaped or maybe confirmed by what you have read or written this semester?
