Dealing with pain pain points can be very specific or industry wide. Often time your project represents actions being taken by the organization to deal with a recognized pain. Other terms to use instead of pain are pervasive problems or challenges, roadblocks to success and growth, and so on. For more examples read 4 Examples of Pain Points.
As a project manager, you are able to reduce or eliminate these pain points. In doing so you will create value in the eyes of your executive stakeholder. Communities of Practice (CoP) are one way to learn about common pain points and how other organizations have mitigated or eliminated pain. You may also discover pains point that are on the horizon that your executive stakeholders may not be aware of until after they begin to experience them.
First post, create a mini interview guide with no more than 5 questions designed to allow you to interview various executive stakeholders to determine what their pains point are as it directly relates to your project and other key factors that you both should agree on. This article might give you some ideas about the kinds of questions you might include in your guide. This should be an addition to your portfolio.
