The portfolio must be typed, titled, at least 6 pages (no maximum), double-spaced and in APA format. This portfolio gives you the opportunity to explore concepts in the text and apply them to current news and events. The portfolio must be emailed to me by Wednesday 12/8 at midnight. You will lose 3 points for each day late. First, choose a cognitive concept from EACH of the 10 chapters we covered. In other words, you will examine ten concepts total, with 10 sources total. Examples of concepts you could choose include blindsight, perceptual illusions, attention, divided attention, transcience, absent-mindedness, blocking, suggestibility, misattribution, primacy and recency effects, amnesia, proactive and reteroactive interference, tip of the tongue phenomenon, implanted memories, flashbulb memory, language, creativity availability heuristic, hindsight bias, base rate fallacy, representative heuristic and many more. Second, find a non-peer reviewed source (e.g., a link to a newspaper, tabloid or magazine article, a blog) that addresses the concept. Then cite the link and describe what the author has to say about the concept. Is this consistent with what you learned in class? What evidence did the author use to back up his or her claims? Is the evidence empirical or scientific? What strengths and weaknesses did you find regarding the authors claims? Are there alternative explanations for the authors findings? Do you find the authors assertions to be true, based on what you learned in class?
