Myth Research Paper (4-7 pages single-spaced + Works Cited page): Choose a myth from one of the Myth HW assignments you were assigned this semester. You do not need to write your paper on the specific myth that you completed for HW.
Choose 1 research study cited in the write-up of the myth to further explore in your research paper. All the research studies cited in the myth are referenced at the end of the Myths book use EBSCO or PubMed or Google Scholar to find the full-text version of the paper using this reference. Try to choose papers that have been published after 2000, and avoid meta-analysis or literature review papers. You can consult with the reference librarian or with me if you need help hunting down the full-text version of the paper, or if you need help determining if the study you have chosen is appropriate for this assignment.
Alternatively, if you dont want to use a paper cited in the myth, you can find another related peer-reviewed primary paper on your own (using EBSCO or PubMed) that was published more recently. The paper you find could study the same idea (replicates the finding, or finds something different?), or has a slightly different angle on the idea (studies it in a different population?).
Consult the rubric at the end of the syllabus for details on how to write these papers. Cite sources internally, include Works Cited section at the end of the paper. Do not directly quote from the primary papers you read paraphrase! Explain the ideas in your own words and most importantly, interpret, connect, and synthesize.
All papers submitted to this assignment will be scanned by TurnItIn for plagiarism. If you are not confident about your paraphrasing, I would recommend uploading a clearly labeled DRAFT file to this assignment (i.e. LastNameDRAFT.doc) a few days early so you can review your TurnitIn score and make changes before uploading the final version.
