Discuss the differences and similarities between the buildings’ plans and how they deal with the weight of their structures.

Option 1: Create a 12-Minute Narrated Slide Presentation comparing the Mausoleum of Galla Placidia to the Museum of Hagia Sophia. Using the language learnt in video lectures, supplementary videos and reading materials compare the form and function of each of these buildings.
A few things to keep in mind:
Start by describing and contrasting what these buildings look like and how they are different or similar in formal/visual terms.
Explain who made/commissioned/paid for each one of them and explain why that was the case.
Discuss the differences and similarities between the buildings’ plans and how they deal with the

Discuss the decorative plan of both buildings’ interiors and explain what kind of artistic techniques
were used to communicate what specific religious values.
Consider how and why the Hagia Sophia transitioned from Church to Mosque and what kind of
changes that entailed to the decorative program of the site
