In the final chapters of the book, Rav Soloveitchik shows how since we are commanded to live a life that integrates both Adam I and II, and if we are successful at doing that, we are therefore ultimately lonely men of faith.
1) Part of that challenge, is when we vacillate between Adam I/II we try to incorporate religion into our Adam I mindset and the result is ( p.71) – “Western man diabolically insists on being successful. Alas, he wants to be successful even in his adventure with G-d.”
Please elaborate on why this is the case and how it might impact your own personal religious experience.

(p.45) notes “because of the extraordinary technological advancements, our creativity has progresses far ahead, while our spirituality has been left behind. This imbalance, I believe, has nurtured a looming atmosphere of instability, insecurity, and anxiety.” In other words, because modern man pays more attention to his Adam I character than his Adam II personality growth, he feels unstable and unsuccessful. He notes how many very wealthy and “Adam I successful” business men or actors, feel a great deal of emptiness and unhappiness.
