Write an organized, essay in which you compare and/or contrast what you see on stage with how plays were produced during one other period in theatre history. For example, you may wish to compare the play you saw to theatre production during the Elizabethan era. This is a critical analysis of the production, not a review or a description of the experience.
The title of the play should be in appropriate title format: each major word should be capitalized, and the title should be italicized. Make sure you establish some kind of organizing principle for the paper in the opening paragraph.

Consider the following theatre elements:
Audience, Theatre space, Actors and acting style, Director, Scenery, Costumes, Lighting and Sound, Script
Consider the following questions:
How are choices similar to those in the past? How are they different from those of the past? Are old practices tweaked or used in a new way? Are theatre practices blended in a new or unusual way? What is the genesis of theatre practices you see at work on stage? When did these practices begin? How have they evolved? What if different practices were used? For example, what if masks were used or the play was done in a Greek amphitheater? Additional reminders:
Make connections between what you see in the play and what we are discussing in class. Go beyond describing what you see and analyze the theatre practices at work, the origins of theatre practices, and the effectiveness of those practices. You do NOT need to answer all the above questions. Choose the topics you find most interesting and focus on those in a well-organized essay. Do NOT simply describe your experience. Articulate your opinions and back up your assertions with examples from the play.
