All of the paper topics were fine. The major problem of a number of the abstracts was that they were overly general, far-ranging, or ambitious for a short paper. Your paper should not be on causality, emptiness, no-self, etc., in all of Pali or Mahyna Buddhism. It should focus on a particular concept or argument in a specific text or in a very few selected texts with a common theme or concept. This should not be written as a brief encyclopedia review, but as a scholarly paper with a thesis and argument with supporting claims that arrive at a conclusion. Focus on a primary source first and only secondarily on literature about it.
