What is your purpose in applying for graduate study in your specified degree program? Describe your area(s) of interest, including any subfield(s) or interdisciplinary interests.
Genetic counseling is something I am very passionate about. I hope to counsel those suffering from genetic disorders give them some clarity and comfort regarding their circumstances. I am primarily interested in pursue pediatric genetic counseling, however assomeone suffering from a neurological condition, I would also be open to testing those waters.
What experiences have prepared you for advanced study or research in this degree program? What relevant skills have you gained from these experiences? Have your experiences led to specific or tangible outcomes that would support your potential to contribute to this field (examples: performances, publications, presentations, awards or recognitions)?
My experience has resulted in publications and I have spoken at an internation conference and domestic conference sharing my work with doctors and professors and presenting alongside doctors and professors.
What additional information about your past experience may aid the selection committee in evaluating your preparation and aptitude for graduate study at University? For example, you may wish to describe research, employment, teaching, service, artistic or international experiences through which you have developed skills in leadership, communication, project management, teamwork, or other areas.
I have extensive experience in research, including a publication in genetics. I have worked in healthcare for the last year working in close contact with patients and assisting patients directly (allows me to work on my people skills). I work as a site leader for current job.

What are your plans for your career after earning this degree?
I plan to join healthcare and pursuit a career in genetic counseling with a major institution. I really enjoyed talking to genetic counselors in pedriatics. Additionally, I would like to help aspiring genetic counselors gain exposure in the field and a greater understanding of the specialties they want to pursue.
