Began SHC in the gift shop as a Customer Care Specialist. The gift shop was a special place. Not only is the gift shop a place to shop, it is a place of refuge and respite for all in need.
Gained many friendships with co-workers as well as patients and their families. I am extremely passionate about patient care. Patient care means ensuring a person is care for from the time they enter into the hospital up to the time they leave. It means ensuring they are comfortable and understand their visits and treatment plans. When I first came to work for Stanford upon entering the campus I knew this was a special place. Stanford has its own pulse its one heartbeat. I look forward to coming into work. One of my daily prayers is that the lord use me to help in anyway he sees fit. I am here to serve. I am now a health Navigator. I throughout the hospital helping people navigate their way through the hospital. In addition to wayfinding I help people find the resources they need to make their visit at Stanford a great experience. There are times when loved ones come in and are terrified crying they just need someone to talk to, some need help or just to vent.
I am enrolled in an LVN program at Quest Nursing School in Oakland. My goal is to become an RN. For as long as I can remember I have wanted to work with people. One of my favorite quotes which is by Mahatma Gandhi says The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others. Ilove connecting with people I love helping in anyway that I can. Becoming a nurse will afford me the opportunity to continue to hopefully grow with an organization I have come to love. Stanford Health Care is a teaching hospital. The mission of SHC is Healing humanity through science and compassion one patient at a time. I stand firmly for and behind this mission statement as I hold these same values.
