Clearly identify a public health problem/issue (from the two topics below) that requires public health action
Topics are:
Sexual and reproductive health (for example, access to abortions, reproductive coercion etc)
Disasters (for example, natural disasters, humanitarian disasters, pandemics etc)
Outline what the problem is, which populations are impacted by this and why a gender lens is critical to understanding and addressing this health problem/issues.
Gender theory
Critically analyse the impact of hegemonic gender on this public health problem/issue
Identify the gender norms, practices and structures which shape the gender inequalities impacting this public health problem/issue
Apply an intersectional gender lens to explain how gender intersects with other identities such as sex, ability, sexuality, affluence to compound experiences in relation to the chosen health problem/ issue
Previous public health approaches
Identify and analyse one previous or current public health approach aiming to address this health problem/issue. Specifically:
Explain where on the spectrum of gender equitable approaches this previous/current public health initiative falls and why?
What was/is the impact of the gender equitable approach taken for women, men and/or gender diverse people?
What forms of gender inequality were reinforced or challenged through this approach; and
Were there any unintended barriers or benefits that could have resulted from this approach
