Our dependence on fossil fuel is causing a myriad of social, environmental, and economic problems, such as air pollution and dependence on unpredictable foreign nations. To combat the problems, researchers are actively working to find and develop cleaner sources of energy that can be harvested domestically. However, there is some debate over what makes an energy source green. All energy sources create pollution at some stage of their life cycle, which adversely impacts plants and animals.
