From a technological environment perspective, is there any evidence of a new product development risk for Airbus and Boeing(e.g., Airbus fly by wire; Boeing’s fuselage and extensive use of suppliers)? Is Boeing undertaking undue risk by speeding up its normal product development cycle ? List all possible risk factors and show side by side how Airbus and Boeing compare on these risk factors.
6. What is really the problem that Airbus is facing? Using the problem statement format, what is the overall problem? The root cause ( what decisions and who made them)? What are the problems by marketing mix area? What will happen short and long term if the problem is not corrected?
7. What strategy should Airbus undertake? Should they continue with the A350 or go ahead with the A350 XWB? If you elect to go with the XWB, should Airbus speed up development of the A350 XWB ahead of the 2013 estimated launch? are there any other possible strategies that they should consider ?
