Assessment 1: Career issues analysis –
Essay (35%)

Write an essay discussing and evaluating responses to a career issue. Suggested topics for presentation/essay are provided below.
Time / word limit:
Essay: 2000 words (+ or – 10%, not including references)
Whichever topic you choose, your presentation/essay must include discussion of at least two main theories of career development as raised in lessons and readings (and you will need references to at least 10 in depth academic journal articles to support this discussion).

You must also discuss at least 2 examples of a real person to confirm, challenge or complicate the theories. This may be a person you know such as a family member or friend, or a well-known (famous) person. Note: the best example will most likely be someone who has had significantly more extensive career experience than you, and someone you can interview so you are not basing your discussion simply on your assumptions about their experience. If you are using a famous person you will need to refer (cite) an authoritative, published source such as a biography or autobiography, or an interview with the person to support your discussion.
