This assignment deals with Media stereotypes of Appalachian people and the Appalachian region. We all have heard or witnessed stereotypes of people who live in this region. From inbred hicks, no shoes, no teeth, dumb, stupid, pill heads and whether you are with her or against her Kim Davis. The mass media has always stereotyped the people of this region. Leading the playwright Robert Schenken to say, “The Appalachian people are the last group of people that we can make fun of in this country and get away with it”. So, I hope to get some good responses from you all especially if you have lived in this region of Kentucky your entire life.
