Part 1. As described in the Norcross and Wampold article, evidenced-based relationships are those elements in the counseling relationship that contribute to positive client outcomes. Choose one of the following evidence-based relationships:
Empathy
Positive regard
Genuineness/congruence
Provide the definition and describe three behaviors or strategies that you can do to promote this in your work with clients.
Describe one significant challenge that you foresee in applying this in your work with your clients.
Part 2. Informed consent is our ethical and legal responsibility to communicate to clients the necessary information about the counselor and the counseling process. This must be communicated both verbally and in writing. An important element of informed consent includes the purpose and limitations of confidentiality.
( for this complete a written transcript to be recorded by me) describe to the client the purpose and limitations of confidentiality. Record and submit your video response. It should be a 30 second-2 minute response.
Part 3
Answer the following self-reflection questions separately:
Does your response include an affirming acknowledgment of the client’s concerns for confidentiality?
Does your response communicate to the client that their confidentiality is a priority?
Does your response include each of the limits to confidentiality (e.g., serious and foreseeable harm, child and elder abuse, subpoenas)?
Does your response include an assurance that you will make every effort to inform them before you release confidential information?
