1). What are the stone gods, that you have left as marks of remembrance that you are the living? (The material legacy you leave behind) What will you leave to your people?
2). Who are the kin, and/or the grounds that (your memorials) that inspire you to live?
A). This is NOT about personal beliefs, faith or religion. This is pre-religion, this about connection with material elements, their reality was what can be observed. We still have these human impulses that are part of all our connections with this world because it is a human connection we form with those we choose to be close with, or the state we live in. You get the picture, we all remember and hope to be remembered.
I want you to think of your life in terms of the ancients. Think about the material things that keep you connected to this life, the things/trinkets that you will leave behind as a remembrance.
The only myth we are discussing is the ancient myth; that is our connecting point the material world of rocks. They did not believe in gods that lived in the skies or beings that have personal relationships with humans; all they had was each other and what they could forge out of this life…we call that family.
They paid tribute to the real elements of earth. They built memorials for the Living. What are your stone gods?
Write like you are them in the 21st century. What are the things you will leave behind, that you will be remembered for that are material, your stone gods.
B). You must discuss course content from Dr Lj’s summation of Stone gods in your essay (see Module)
C). Put yourself in their shoes and find the connections, they were human, the felt, they lived, and they loved, and they died. They are us, but write it from your moment in time, step into their shoes to see that we still hold people, places and accomplishments in high regard just as they did. How do I know? Well we still carve our names in stone!
