A successful WA1 will accomplish the following tasks:
Research two experts who write about the topic that you chose and argue on opposing sides. An expert is a philosopher, political theorist, or other academic with substantial knowledge about the topic. Expert writings are found, most typically and abundantly, in academic journals such as (but not limited to) jstore and Ebsco Host. It is not a requirement that any of the experts you research share the same view as you, although it may be the case. It is a requirement that the two experts you research disagree with each other in some way.
Write a clear thesis statement arguing which author has a better position.
Summarize, in your own words, the positions of each expert.
Identify the arguments presented by each expert
Explain, in your own words, what the central disagreement is between the two experts.
Evaluate the arguments you reconstructed and compare them. Explain which argument is better and why.
Identify the best argument each expert makes and reconstruct those arguments in your own words
