When deciding on a case to choose and discuss, you want to pick a case from your state that successfully made it to the Supreme Court that deals with civil rights and liberties. So, for example, if you live in Connecticut you could pick something like Griswold v. Connecticut (1965) since it is:
1) from the state you reside in
2) successfully made its way to the Supreme Court
3) deals with an issue pertaining to civil liberties
You do NOT want to pick a 1) contemporary state supreme court case 2) a case not dealing with a civil liberty or right, and 3) a case that was denied cert (i.e., not heard) by the Court. choose a case from your state that involves civil rights or civil liberties that wound its way up to the United States Supreme Court.
