Using mostly Scholarly articles answer the following questions in an easy format. Please treat each question separately.
1) Transparency
Background: At one time, transparency meant simply “owning up to a mistake or righting a wrong,” explains Entrepreneur. While these practices continue to be important, the concept of transparency now covers so much more. It has grown to mean the practice of being forthright in all aspects — both positive and negative — of a company’s practices. To make their companies as transparent as possible, leaders can emphasize the practice in all facets of their operations including employee conduct, internal culture and corporate objectives.
Assignment Part 2: Go to the internet and find some information about a major company and their practices of transparency or operational practices. Also, consider their business practices and product line. Then go to the LIRN and find a recent scholarly article (per assignment directions) about corporate transparency. In your five paragraph essay, describe the company’s approach to transparency and your findings about what scholars have discovered about corporate transparency. Relate this to the readings in the text book.
2) Compliance and Governance Issues
Background: Businesses are expected to fully comply with environmental laws, federal and state safety regulations, fiscal and monetary reporting statutes and all applicable civil rights laws. The Aluminum Company of America’s approach to compliance issues states, “no one may ask any employee to break the law, or go against company values, policies and procedures.” ALCOA’s commitment to compliance is underpinned by the company’s approach to corporate governance; “we expect all directors, officers and other Alcoans to conduct business in compliance with our Business Conduct Policies.”
Assignment Part 2: Go to the internet and find the Code of Ethics for another major company. Also, consider their business practices and product line. After you have located their code of ethics, go to the LIRN and find a recent scholarly article (per assignment directions) about corporate compliance or ethics. In your five paragraph essay, describe the ethical approach that you think the company has used to form their Code of Ethics or Code of Compliance.
