Goal is to show that the culture in science does not support the learning of self-management to PhD students who will be the next generation of leaders in the scientific field regardless if staying on an academic path or moving on to industry. Universities prefer to sell this education as a seperate product after graduation and new PI are sent on management bootcamp courses also provided often by university. Regardless of their requirement to provide the next generation of scientist with all needed tools. The paper should rise awareness and offer solutions to the problem. Since Self-Management is believed to be the basic of Leadership and its a skill you learn /train it is required to establish a culture that naturally supports the development or at least givcixes room (time) for it.
