Identify the section of the Constitution or its amendment that you have chosen. Discuss how this section of the Constitution or its amendments both limit and protect business in general. Describe an example of how the section of the Constitution or its amendment that you have chosen could be applied to your professional life (past, present, or future). In your example, discuss whether the section of the Constitution you have chosen to address limits business or protects it.

Section 8 The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States; but all Duties, Imposts and Excises shall be uniform throughout the United States; (Seaquest, G. 2012).
This law protects businesses by providing a common defense for businesses in the United States. This means that if a foreign nation attempted to seize the property of a business the country would defend the legitimate claim and rights of the business. To provide this defense the government can collect taxes from the business. Excise taxes are indirect taxes that are paid when a good comes into existence, like oil or gold. Duties are typically paid when a goods cross a border. Imposts are typically taxes paid on imports (Dictionary.com, August 4, 2021 para 1). The government is going to pay to protect your business by charging you. Congress gets to decide how much they are going to charge you and how they are going to charge you for this service. All the laws that are enacted by congress shall be uniform for everybody in the United States. The general welfare one would assume includes the courts to that would mitigate different claims. This welfare provides means to do business safely, in some cases it can also inhibit what business do. It could to that in a broad sense by making the taxes so high that it is not worth participating in the business.

Example of how the 1st Amendment and the impacts on my professional career.
Working within the research and development field, the 1st Amendment and its protections significantly impact the distribution of research discoveries. As the 1st Amendment prohibits sharing trade secrets and patents, the research teams are confident that patented inventions will not be shared unless explicitly granted. In addition, the freedom of speech allows the open sharing of discoveries and innovations without limitations. As research best practice requires the reproducible results and statistical significance of outcomes, the 1st amendment permits the sharing of information as researched see fit. The 1st Amendment provides legal protection to researchers when presenting their work as they utilize their freedom of speech to inform and disseminate new and novel discoveries to the public.
