Topic: Women in Chemistry
In the field of chemistry, although there are many female scientists who have made significant discoveries, unfortunately, their discoveries are not as celebrated in textbooks. One woman in particular who made a mark in nuclear chemistry was Marie Sklodowska Curie, also known to many as Madame Curie. Her life history has been told in many colorful ways. She was quite an interesting character, but her achievements in the field of nuclear chemistry were outstanding. In fact, she is the first person ever to win two Nobel Prizes due to her work in the field. Marie Curie’s daughter, Irène Joliot-Curie, also went on to do some amazing things in this field as well.
In this discussion, you will look at women in chemistry and the field of nuclear chemistry. To start, take a look at these two great resources:
Article: Marie Curie – Biographical

Website: Meet the Amazing Women of Chemistry

Next, do some additional research into the field of nuclear chemistry and Marie Curie as well as into other women in the field of chemistry and their contributions.
Initial Response:
Then, in your initial post, answer the following questions:
What aspects of nuclear chemistry and the contributions made by Marie Curie did you find most interesting? Why?
What concept in nuclear chemistry interests you and why?
What female chemist caught your interest the most and why?
What contribution did they make in their field of study in chemistry?
