Write a 1000-word essay (about 6+ paragraphs) on a landmark supreme court case. Your essay must be double spaced, 12-point font, and in Times New Roman. You will also use MLA format for essay citations and your work cited page at the end of your essay. You will need to use at least 3 different sources to write your essay. Essay Question: Select one landmark Supreme Court case, (see list at end), and discuss its historical significance, constitutional principles involved, and the lasting impact it has had on American society and the legal system. Explain how the Court’s decisions in these cases have shaped the interpretation of the Constitution and the balance between individual rights and government authority in the United States. Your essay should have the following: Introduction: Describe what your essay will be about (what case you are writing about and why we should know about this case. This will include your thesis statement. 3-4 Body Paragraphs- This will be where you explain the historical significance, constitutional principles involved, lasting impact the case has had on American society and legal system, and explain how the cases court decision has shaped the interpretation of the constitution and the balance between individual rights and government authority in the U.S. Conclusion- Your conclusion will serve as a culmination of your discussion. You can reflect on the significance of your landmark supreme court case. You will want to leave a final impression on your reader. This could be a thought-provoking question, a call to action, or a powerful quote related to your topic. Your conclusion SHOULD NOT include any new information.
