This is the final assignment for your course project. Review the Cultural Considerations in Emergency Management Project Overview and rubric for full instructions about this assignment. To successfully complete this project, you will be expected to: Summarize a selected incident, including what occurred during the event itself, emergency response actions, best practice processes used, stakeholder groups, and vulnerable populations. Evaluate the influence of culture on emergency management decision-making both during the event and after as it relates to policies and outcomes. Look at the event from all sides and try to keep your personal biases out of your analysis. Examine the impact that the media had on the event, both in reporting on it, as well as how it influenced public opinion. Examine the use of a relevant theory (or theories) to help explain what occurred in a selected incident and how the theory (or theories) influenced the development of contemporary emergency management. Design a solution to improve the relationship within the response and recovery efforts among culturally diverse groups and the emergency management system for the future. Develop recommendations to improve response to similar incidents in the future including reduced cultural impacts, enhanced mitigation efforts, better preparedness efforts, and more effective policy development.
