For this assignment, you need to write an overall book review of You Don’t Need a Title to Be a Leader. Read/Review the book and then write a 2-4 page paper (double spaced) about how you view leadership in both your chosen work field and your personal life. In the paper, you should include references to the book, citing sections and page numbers. You do not need to include a chapter-by-chapter review, but you should refer to enough material in the book to give me a good indication that you read the full text. Here are some general questions you should answer in your paper: How did this book influence or impact your thoughts on leadership – both personally and in the workplace? What really stood out as “ah-ha” moments or something that made you think a little deeper? What (if anything) did you not agree with or like about the book? While there is a significant amount of personal reflection in this assignment, you should treat the paper as a full book review so give some context of what it was about, what you gained and what you may not have appreciated about as you formulate your responses to the above questions. You are welcome to incorporate any other material that helps you clarify your thoughts (other readings, videos, experiences, etc.), but your primary goal is to demonstrate that you read the book and you can find ways to connect it to your life. While you are strongly encouraged to pick selections that are not only focused on your choosen profession, you are welcome to select any that you feel resonates with you. As you reference your selections, explain why that connected for you – what you gained from reading their story and how that connects to your thoughts on life.
