B. Write an EXSUM that states the studys intent, hypothesis, methods, results, interpretation of results, and why the study matters.
C. No more than six sentences. No more than fifteen words per sentence. Use active voice only.
An example:
The study by Ehlen et al. aims to challenge the central dogma that only the brain regulates sleep states. The study uses a unique genetic driver in order to manipulate gene expression in either the brain or periphery (muscle). The target gene is Bmal1. The study finds that manipulating brain-derived Bmal1 minimally impacts sleep states. But, manipulating muscle-derived Bmal1 catalyzes a multitude of changes in sleep states. Thus, the study argues against that sleep is solely of the brain, by the brain, and for the brain.
