Why do you want to spend your summer performing research?

This application essay is for a summer undergraduate research fellowship.

This is the prompt for the essay.

One page essay (do not go over one page) that answers the following three questions:
1) Why do you want to spend your summer performing research?
2) What are your career goals?
3) What scientific research questions interest you?

My answers for the questions:
1) I want to gain more experience in the field of research and apply the things I have been learning in school
2) I would like to pursue a PhD in infectious diseases
3) Scientific question: Effects of climate change on the prevalence of infectious diseases in humans and animals

Please feel free to tailor my answers to your writing. I have no strong ideas on questions 1 and 2. I am really interested in the effects of climate change in the rising cases of infectious diseases throughout the years.
I think focusing on question 3 shows my interest in the program.
