Explain and evaluate the credibility of the source (analyze for authority, accuracy, currency, objectivity).
Assess the usefulness of the source/discuss the writers background (examine expertise or layman
knowledgeability)
Describe your reaction (credible source? Value of source? Analytical/emotional reaction?) For your annotated bibliography you must do the following three things for each source:
1. Summarize: First briefly summarize the content of the source. What is the main argument the author is making? Does the author make any sub-claims? What is the point of this book or article? What topics are covered? What topics are covered? If someone asked what this article/book was about, what would you say? Does the source include any special features that are unique? IF the source is a primary source, describe the content of the source.
2. Assess: After summarizing the source, you must evaluate the source. Is it a useful source? How does it compare with the other sources in your bibliography? Is the information reliable? Is this source biased or objective? Who is the intended audience for the source? What is the goal of this source? What is the background and credibility of the author?
3. Reflect: Once you have summarized and assessed a source, you need to ask how it fits into your research. Was this source helpful to you? In what specific ways does it hep you shape your
argument? How can you use this source in your research project? Has it changed how you think about the topic? Does this source primarily support your argument or refute it?
