Informative Speech Assignment Description

Description: The objective of this assignment is to pull together what you have previously learned about speech structure and conversational, extemporaneous delivery to produce a understandable informative speech about an approved topic. Each presentation should have the audience in mind, be supported with research, and well-organized. Topics can include speeches about new technologies/objects, significant people in history (politicians, musicians, artists, inventors), cultural events, ideas (theories, movements, ideologies), or places with historical significance.

Instructions: Students will be asked to give a 5-7 minute speech. The speech will have 3 main points in a meaningfully, structure body, have a grabbing introduction, and a significant conclusion to leave the audience with new information. Students are also required to include 1 visual aid. The outline will be due a week prior to speech days. Student will be allowed 3-5 notecards with key phrases to assist ideally making 80% eye-contact. Dress Appropriately!

Research Requirements: Students are required to have 3 sources from reputable websites including but not limited to news articles, books, and online journals. The sources will be orally cited in the speech by giving the name of the publishing organization (NY Times, CNN, Reuters, Buzzfeed, Forbes, Government Websites) and/or the author as well as the date the information was published.
