1. conducting an IISCA Open-Ended Interview with the behavior mouthing (Any instance of individual placing a non-edible item past the plane of their lips or within their mouth. An example of this behavior can include a pencil passing the plane of their lips. A non-example of this is individual using their accepted chew- able toy that is being used to redirect when they mouth a non-edible item or any food/drink. The onset time for this is when the item passes the plane of their lips. The offset time is 5 seconds COMPLETELY away from their face. The distance from their face needs to be at least a foot length away. This behavior will be measured with frequency and keeping in mind the offset time to have an accurate count. An alternate behavior is being presented in the form of asking for food or drink and also using a chewable toy that is approved by caregiver).
