The general purpose of the essay questions is to provide information about me as well as to demonstrate my ability to express ideas clearly and logically in a grammatically correct format. These questions should be answered in between 500 2000 words. Please see the information that I want for the questions, as written after the question.
1. Discuss the clinical specialty area you are interested in pursuing. What experiences have contributed to your interest? (500 words should be acceptable)
I am interested in Hospice, and I have hospice experience in two clinical settings during school and I have experience working with hospice patient in the critical care unit that I currently work at.
2. The goal of the DNP program is to prepare nurse leaders at the highest level of nursing practice to improve patient outcomes and translate research into practice. Describe experiences that exhibit your leadership skills. (500 words should be acceptable)
Please review my resume and come up with something for this section, based on my school/work experiences and anything extracurricular.
3. The DNP program prepares you to sit for specialty certification and provides education in evidence-based practice, quality improvement, and systems leadership. Identify a problem or question that requires a system change in health care, educational services and/or policies that you might address in your role as a DNP-prepared health care provider. This problem should have relevance to current or emerging health care issues. (This answer probably requires more than 500 words but should not exceed 2000)
One issue that, in my opinion, is plaguing healthcare is that students already get to their career burned out from the excessive pressures and responsibilities of schoolwork. They come to the workforce tired, full of anxiety/depression/substance abuse disorders, and full of debt. Schools do not do enough to lighten loads in a way that is more focused to what students need in order to pass their boards (which is a huge work/school life balance issue), they do not have the facilities and/or benefits to provide students with mental health support, and they charge way too much for services rendered. This makes students not able to be at their optimal level by the time they get into the workforce, which leads to poor job satisfaction, which leads to poor patient outcomes and nurses leaving the bedside.

Personal Statement must explain achievements and work experience that are relevant to my interest in and capacity for graduate study. Include the following: (all three sections below can be described in 1000 words total, split between the three, so they can be short answers for each)
Identify a systematic or population practice issue that requires the implementation of an evidence-based or quality improvement change.
This can be related to how lack of hospice education and certain language in the hospice field is playing a role in patients and their families seeking less hospice care and/or seeking hospice care too late in the game.
Describe the setting and the interprofessional team you will lead to implement the change. Include how your leadership experience (formal or informal) as a nurse will facilitate the improvement of patient or systematic outcomes at the highest level of nursing practice.
For this, there needs to be a team that involves at least: providers, nurses, unlicensed assistive personnel, caseworkers, chaplains, IT, and marketing/outreach workers. I would have to initiate a plan of how to form this group, what tasks to assign each member, and how this team would implement the changes needed in solving the issue of how lack of hospice education and certain language in the hospice field is playing a role in patients and their families seeking less hospice care and/or seeking hospice care too late in the game.
Discuss potential mentors for clinical experiences to deliver care across the lifespan.
I do not really understand what the school is looking for in this question, but we can mention some of the mentors that I have encountered in nursing, their values, and how that would apply to me being an effective FNP/leader.
Isabel RN colleague, very patient and empathetic, has lots of compassion and takes her time to make sure that everything is done correctly. She was my preceptor and is very detail oriented.
Amy RN clinical instructor. She brought a fun way of learning to students. She is very driven and can overcome many challenges to provide the best care and mentorship.

I have also attached a letter written by one of your writers, for another school. It may serve as a guide or a resource of information to pick from.
