I will explore this topic through a historical lens to see where blockchain technology originated from before being used in digital currencies such as bitcoin. I am taking this approach through a historical lens to explore how other technologies used for safe record keeping such as cryptography and bank ledgers were incorporated into the blockchain technology and what inspired those events to allow for the creation of Bitcoin and spawning the cryptocurrency era. My thesis statement will be; How Blockchains became a secure method for transferring digital assets.
